Reconciliation is the Sacrament of healing that restores our relationship with God and the Church. Also called Confession or Penance, it allows us to seek forgiveness and receive God’s mercy. Through Reconciliation, we are freed from sin, called to ongoing conversion, and brought back into closer union with God and the community: “The whole power of the sacrament of Penance consists in restoring us to God’s grace and joining us with him in an intimate friendship” (CCC 1468).
