Our Ministries

Sacred Heart-Emmaus parish consists of many groups and ministries that each in its unique way contribute to the wellbeing and vibrancy of our Parish. We are inviting both parishioners and school families to make our parish even more vibrant by participating in one or more of the groups and ministries listed below. Please complete the expression of interest form and submit.

Name Description
Reader of the Word of God Proclaim the readings from the Sacred Scripture during Mass.
Reader of Prayers of the Faithful Read the Prayers of the Faithful during Mass.
Special Minister of Communion Distribute Holy Communion at Mass.
Music and Singing Liturgy Team Lead and guide the congregation in worship through music and hymns.
Prayer Groups Gather for prayer, friendship, and reflection on the Holy Scriptures.
Communion to Aged Care/Nursing Homes Extend pastoral care through regular visits to nursing home residents.
Communion to Private Homes Provide Communion to parishioners unable to attend Mass.

Celebrate

Name Description
Baptism Preparation Team Help prepare families whose children are being baptised.
Bereavement Support Team Support community members experiencing grief and loss.
RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Prepare adults who are enquiring about the Catholic faith.

Fair Committee Team Assist with social gatherings and fundraising, including Bunnings sausage sizzles.
Hospitality Team Prepare and serve refreshments after Mass to nurture the parish community.
St Vincent de Paul Participate in the Keilor Downs Conference assisting those in need.
St Vincent de Paul – St Albans Shop Assist in running the St Albans opportunity shop.
Piety Stall Assist with the sale of religious items at Mass.
Altar Linen Washing Prepare altar linen for Mass.

Work

Name Description
Parish Advisory Group* Assist the parish priest in managing the parish and making strategic decisions.
Finance Committee* Advise the parish priest in the administration of parish financial needs.
Safeguarding Committee* Uphold the safety and dignity of all, especially children and the vulnerable.
Counters Count the weekly collection after Sunday Mass.

All Ministries require a WWCC (Working With Children Check) card for participation (except for those under 18).  Some ministries may also require a Police Check.  The Parish Office can assist you in attaining these checks.
